This wonderful “Plique A Jour” Cloisonne vase is decorated with Art Nuveau stylistic branches, flowers and leaves highlighted by gold colored wire (cloisons) on a white opal ground with hues of greens, yellows, purples and blue glass. The bottom and rim are made of brass wire. Plique-a-jour, a French term that translates (as nearly as can be determined) to letting in the daylight and defines a type of transparent enamel that has no backing.
