This wonderful marked piece is a French turn-of-the-century covered candy/butter (beurrier) dish made by Portieux Glass and introduced in 1907. This piece is estimated to be from around 1910-1920s period. The pattern is known as Dauphins (Argonaut) Portieux model#6708 Vallerysthal model#3828 and features a shell and dolphin / dragon motif with a shell finial and three dolphin / dragon feet. The Dauphins pattern was produced by Portieux Glass and later by Portieux Vallerysthal (PV). These items were made in transparent colors, including crystal/clear glass and a variety of opaque colors.
